I was swimming in the World Ice Swimming Championships in Oulu, in early March. There were 1,900 swimmers representing 50 nations. I was born in Australia so have to enter under this nation ( having represented Australia in ice swimming National and World Championships since 2017).

The weather in Finland was extremely cold through January and February so the Baltic Sea and Oulujoki River had a 65cm thick ice cover which is the thickest in 30 years. They cut huge rectangular blocks of ice out with a chainsaw to create a 25 metre metre long swimming pool 10 lanes wide for the swim competition. They then constructed an ice sauna like an igloo for swimmers to rewarm after their swim races.

The water temperature was below zero and some of the races were with -15 degrees windchill plus blowing snow. :snowflake: :person_swimming::snowman_without_snow::finland:

In my 6 races I was successful with 2 gold medals, one silver and 2 bronze medals as a world champion in my age group, I celebrated my 2nd gold medal with the Sealand flag!

450 metre freestyle (age65-69yrs old) medal award, the Polish swimmer finished 3rd. The Danish swimmer who finished 2nd had left early to attend a dinner and missed the medal presentation.

The Scottish woman Jade Perry won a number of medals in the 40-44yr category. She is getting married this week and as a wedding present I will be gifting them Sealand titles (husband and wife) so it is appropriate that she celebrated with the Sealand flag too!

Dragon boat racing
Went to the PanAm 6th annual 2026 Inverness Dragon Boat Festival March 28 in Inverness Florida at Wallace Brooks Park to wave the Sealand flag.

Over 30 teams from around the USA competed in 300m distance races in 10 or 20 person paddle team boats.

30 teams and 300-meter races… incredible energy! :dragon: And seeing the Sealand flag wave at a festival in Florida is a touch of absolute class. Huge!
