The natural rival for our National team has and always will be the Great Britain Lions.
Ever since we started, there’s been a little bit of an issue with the British American Football Association, in which most of our players play, a solid 90% of them.
Then, ever since we started becoming a recognised club, the players in GB have looked down on the Seahawks like we’re an annoying little brother.
This is until recently, when one of our own, Kevin Keohane, an offensive lineman for the Seahawks Masters applied for and got the job of Head Coach of the GB Lions and in the last week has messaged me to say,
“If you get the Sealand American Football Association into IFAF (the International Federation of American Football), fancy a friendly?”
So that match might be coming sooner rather than later… While it might not be so friendly on the pitch, it’s hard to fall out with one of my best friends in Kev, so it’d be a brutal, but fun match with the loser buying the drinks in the bar afterward…
