Sealand Builders Program FAQ
What is the Sealand Builders Program?
The Sealand Builders Program is where Sealand e-Citizens and Noble Title Holders can participate in missions, share their achievements, contribute to the community, and receive recognition in the Sealand community. Each mission carries a point value set by Sealand based on its likely impact or level of difficulty. After a mission closes, the e-Citizen community votes to help shortlist top entries, and Sealand selects the monthly winner.
The program offers two different reward paths. Noble Title Holders can participate in missions and access selected or limited rewards. e-Citizens unlock the full Builders track: they can vote, accumulate points, progress through Builder levels, earn official Builder badges, access enhanced rewards, and compete for the top prize at the end of every six-months: a trip to Sealand.
We have also designed the program as a path for e-Citizens who want a more active role in Sealand’s civic life over time, while also welcoming Noble Title Holders to contribute through missions.
Who is it for?
-
e-Citizens and Noble title holders who want to take part in Sealand activities, not just follow them
-
e-Citizens who want to participate in Sealand’s civic life and who want a real stake in Sealand’s future
-
e-Citizens and Noble title holders who enjoy building things: content, designs, legal ideas, systems, community, events, research, tools, and more centered around Sealand
-
e-Citizens and Noble title holders who want to celebrate Sealand and share it with other Sealanders
-
e-Citizens and Noble title holders who want to be recognized in the Sealand community
-
e-Citizens who want to compete for the chance to visit Sealand
Do I need to be an e-Citizen or Noble title holder to be a Builder?
Yes. The Builders Program is for active e-Citizens and Noble title holders. However, only e-Citizens can vote, earn points, receive Builder badges, and qualify for the trip to Sealand.
Do I need to be an e-Citizen to vote for my favorite contributions?
Yes. Voting is for e-Citizens only. Voting takes place on Discourse.
What are missions?
Missions are opt-in community challenges. They are designed to be fun, creative, useful, and to recognize the people helping build Sealand. You can view all active Missions here.
Do I have to participate in every mission?
No. You can participate mission by mission, based on your time, interest, and skills.
What are the mission themes?
In the Builders Program, mission themes are grouped under five pillars:
-
Statecraft and Sovereignty: civic archive, diplomacy, dispute resolution, education, flagging, internal governance and law-making, politics and international relations, sovereignty and history
-
Physical and Blue Infrastructure: architecture, engineering, and blue economy
-
Economic Layer: blockchain, business ecosystem, e-Citizen ecosystem, and financial initiatives
-
Culture and Identity: events, popular culture, the Royal Family, sports, and the arts
-
Digital Nation: content creation, media and spotlight, online community building, social media, videogames, and virtual worlds
What can Builders do?
-
Missions: complete themed challenges across culture, community, media, infrastructure, governance, and more
-
Sharing: showcase photos, designs, ideas, stories, research, and creative work connected to Sealand
-
Community: help build the social fabric of Sealand by welcoming, connecting, moderating, and organizing
-
Events and meetups: join or create online and in-person moments that bring Sealanders together
What can e-Citizens and Noble title holders win?
Depending on whether they are e-Citizens or Noble Title Holders, Builders can receive different types of recognition and rewards.
-
Both e-Citizens and Noble Title Holders may be featured across Sealand channels, highlighted in community spotlights, and receive selected prizes depending on the mission.
-
e-Citizens can earn points, progress through Builder levels, receive official Builder badges on their Discord and Discourse profiles, unlock listed and unlisted merchandise from the Sealand shop, and compete for the top six-month top prize: a trip to Sealand.
-
Noble Title Holders can participate in missions and receive selected or limited rewards, including digital items and Builder deeds, but they do not earn points, receive Builder badges, or qualify for the trip to Sealand.
Who wins?
Each month, Sealand reviews the missions that closed during that month. The e-Citizen community votes on Discourse to help shortlist the strongest submissions from across those missions, and Sealand selects the monthly winner or winners from that pool. This means winners are chosen across the missions that closed that month, rather than one winner being guaranteed per mission. Shortlisted e-Citizens receive points and may unlock badges and enhanced rewards. Noble Title Holders may receive limited rewards. At the end of each six-month cycle, the e-Citizen with the most cumulative points wins a trip to Sealand.
Where can I stay informed about the Builders program?
Discord is the live Builders workspace. It is where builders gather for discussion, mission help, coordination, and day-to-day momentum.
Discourse is the official home of the program. It is where missions are posted, formal submissions take place, voting happens, and the voting archive is kept.
How long does each mission stay live?
Every mission has a published start date and end date. Some will run for a day or two. Others may stay open for weeks or months.
Do all Builders get rewarded?
No. Not every submission receives a reward. Each month, Sealand reviews only the missions that closed in that period. The e-Citizen community helps shortlist the strongest submissions, and Sealand chooses the monthly winner or winners from across that pool. Shortlisted e-Citizens may receive points, badges, progression, and enhanced rewards, while Noble Title Holders may receive limited rewards or recognition. Only e-Citizen points count toward Builder levels and the chance to win the six-month trip to Sealand.
Do Builders get paid?
No. The Builders Program is voluntary participation, like a community challenge series. Participation does not create an employment or volunteer relationship.
Can I submit as a team?
Yes. Many missions welcome teams, co-creators, and cross-country collaboration.
Where do I find missions?
Active and past missions live on Sealand’s Discourse account.
How do I take part in a mission?
-
Choose the mission you want to take part in. You can find them all of them on Discourse (we will announce them on Discord, and social media too)
-
Read the mission brief, dates, and submission requirements carefully.
-
Complete the mission before the closing date
-
Submit your achievement or proof as indicated in each Mission (usually by responding in the Mission thread and in specific instances by using a dedicated online form).
-
At month-end, e-Citizens vote on Discourse to create the shortlist. Sealand selects the monthly winner.
Who reviews submissions?
e-Citizens vote on Discourse to create the shortlist, and the Sealand government reviews the eligible submissions from the missions that closed that month.
Can my submission be featured publicly?
Yes. Strong submissions may be featured across Sealand channels.
Do I keep ownership of my photos, videos, and other submissions?
Yes. You keep ownership of what you create. By submitting, you grant Sealand Services Ltd a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to use submitted or tagged content for community and program purposes.
Where do I ask questions or get help?
You can reach the Builders Program admin team on Discord, by replying to the FAQ on Discourse, or through Sealand’s official support channels.
